I made a paper pattern for the outer strips first, then I created the strips on a sewing machine. Because I carved the body to resemble a stratocaster, I needed to make a specific outline to the upper strip. This was challenging, but ultimately very rewarding. Top and bottom strips applied lightly wet with carpenter's glue and hand pressure.
